RESOURCES INSTEAD OF WASTE
We turn organic waste into sustainable resources.
The Future of Biomass
Envorloop – Turning sewage sludge into valuable resources
Our mission
Envorloop develops technologies that unlock the most valuable resource of the future: wet biomass. Large quantities of sewage sludge, manure, and industrial residues are currently disposed of or incinerated at high cost - even though they contain valuable energy and raw materials.
With our innovative process, wet biomass is converted directly at the point of origin into CO₂-neutral energy, high-quality biochar, and recoverable nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen-all without energy intensive drying.
This enables producers of biogenic residual streams to turn a cost factor into a source of value while simultaneously closing a critical gap in the circular economy.

Our process
Turning residual materials into valuable products
Rather than simply disposing of or incinerating hard-to-use biomass, our process transforms it into three valuable resources. By going well beyond basic phosphorus recovery, we unlock the full potential of every biomass stream.
-
Biochar – a CO₂-neutral energy source
-
Biofertilizer – returning phosphorus and nitrogen to agriculture
Why our process is unique
-
Holistic value creation – We recover all relevant resources from biomass, not just phosphorus.
-
Energy-efficient and modular – Wet biomass can be processed directly, without energy-intensive drying.
-
Future-proof and cost-effective – Our process reduces disposal costs and helps meet upcoming regulatory requirements.

Unused resources, rising prices
The disposal of wet biomass is becoming increasingly expensive.
Over the past ten years, costs have increased by more than 130%. The main drivers are rising energy and CO₂ costs, logistical challenges, and limited incineration capacity. At the same time, the Europe-wide shift toward the thermal treatment of sewage sludge is further driving up costs.
New regulatory requirements are fundamentally changing waste disposal.
From 2025 / 2029, new regulations will come into force that will require operators to adapt their disposal strategies:
-
Mandatory phosphorus recovery from 2029 / 2032
-
Bio-Waste Ordinance 2025: stricter quality requirements
-
Circular Economy Act: focus on high-quality recycling and the end of landfilling
-
New technical standards (TA Luft, BImSchG, 17th BImSchV) increase operational complexity and costs
-
CO₂ pricing (BEHG): thermal treatment will become more expensive each year
Future-proof with envorloop
With our innovative process, municipalities, farmers, and businesses can actively address rising costs and increasingly stringent regulations. Wet biomass is converted directly on site into CO₂-neutral energy, high-quality biochar, and recoverable nutrients.
This makes it possible to reduce costs, comply with regulatory requirements, and at the same time make a sustainable contribution to the circular economy.
Discover how Envorloop enables you to utilize your biomass efficiently, future-proof, and in an environmentally friendly way.
